The RCBP will be meeting at Barnes & Noble (4015 Medina Road, Akron) on March 4 at 7PM. We meet in the cafe area. Join us for conversation, laughs, and book related chatter. If you have a book to swap, bring it along. But don’t be afraid to come empty handed. If the Posse doesn’t have a book of interest, you can always browse B&N after the meeting!

That’s right, the RCBP site now has a Viddler.com account.
Viddler is a great way to upload your own personal videos, as well as share them with the world. Got a crazy book release video? Let us see it!
Post video reviews, meetings, etc. and share them with the group on viddler.com, then click Blog this! to see it on our site. It’s that simple.
If you’re interested in logging in, please contact GothamGal for more information. See you (on the site) soon!

If you’ve checked out our site in the past, you may have noticed that a few of our pages have recently disappeared and been replaced with others.
For example, we now have an endorsements page, which lets us convey to you what we think of a particular product/book/etc.
We also have an RCBP-tv link. What is RCBP-TV, you ask? It’s a totally different kind of book show, starting in Feb 2008, watch for regular updates.
We’re a partner for the Akron Family Reading Festival, taking place at the main library on Feb. 9, 2008.
Stay tuned for more exciting changes!

While I was out in California, I decided to wild release some books. VERY wild release, meaning I just dropped books off in random places. I typically have very few wild releases actually get journaled, so this was more of an experiment than anything else. Two books were released at a Panera cafe in Costa Mesa, one on a bench in a mall, another at an overwalk and even 2 in seperate parking garages. 6 books…
Guess what? I got two journal entries out of the whole experience, which is pretty cool. You can see theentries at the pages below:

Weird thing is that both of these catches were in the parking garages. The first one was left on the top of a fire extinguisher box at Bella Terra in Huntington Beach, CA. The other one was left on the floor of the Macy’s parking garage at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, CA.
These were the releases that I felt weird about. I mean, it’s nothing to put a book on a table or something, but on the ground or something? That’s weird to me. Of course, I was really lucky to get these catches, and I’m looking forward to more releases in the new year.
So, here’s my question. What works for you for wild releases? And do you have any wild release goals for 2008? If so, what are they?
We discussed this at our Tuesday evening January meeting. Apparently, catches on the ground get picked up a bit more than not. I guess the whole ‘Someone left something on the ground to be found’ really does work. Anyway, I can’t wait to hear what people have to say. My BC resolution is clean off mt. tbr and do more wild releases.
